The Standing Partner

A partner who owns your AI portfolio, on your calendar.

The Standing Partner is Fulkerson Advisors' fractional Chief AI Officer engagement: a partner who runs a company's AI portfolio two to four days a month, typically for six to twelve months, chairs the reviews, signs the build-or-buy decisions, and answers to the board.

Who it's for

  • Three or more AI initiatives under different executives, and no one accountable for the whole.
  • A board that wants a quarterly read-out on what the AI spend produced, from someone who did not propose the spend.
  • A full-time Chief AI Officer hire on the roadmap, and senior judgment needed before the search.

What you walk away with

  • A portfolio with an owner: every initiative marked stop, fix, build, or scale, with a date.
  • The decisions made, in writing: build or buy, vendor selection, funding.
  • The board read-out, drafted with your CFO's office.
  • At the end of the term, a handover to a permanent hire or to your leadership team, who by then know how the work runs.

How it runs

  1. Each month

Two to four days on your calendar. The partner chairs the AI portfolio review and sits on the committees where money is decided.

  2. Between visits

The partner is reachable. When the work needs more hands, our bench and expert network work under the partner's accountability, scoped separately as a Build.

  3. Each quarter

The board read-out, drafted with your CFO's office, and a re-check of every initiative in the portfolio.

  4. End of term

A documented handover to a permanent hire or to your leadership team.

Terms

How pricing works

A monthly fee, agreed before we start. No minimum term. Either side can end with a month's notice.

What we need from you

  • A reporting line to the CEO or COO, with the authority to commit budget.
  • A seat at the meetings where money is decided.
  • A named deputy inside the company from day one.

What happens next

Book a thirty-minute call. If it fits, a one-page charter: reporting line, cadence, the decisions the partner owns, the term.

What we don't do

We don't take advisory roles with no authority to decide. We don't fill a permanent role indefinitely. If you need a full-time hire, we say so and help you scope it. We don't work for two companies in the same vertical without telling both.

Proof

Not sure this is the right one?

Thirty minutes on a call and we’ll tell you which of the three fits, or whether none of them does yet.
